Hi - I am hoping someone can help me. I am hoping to purchase airline tickets for my husband and son to visit his brother in Detroit sometime in April but not a definite date yet. I want to give this to him for christmas but not sure what site to go on for the lower fares. If anyone can help me I would really appreciate any help. We usually fly southwest but I do not think they fly non stop from Philadelphia. Thanks for any help.

Northwest and US Air are the only two airlines that fly that route non-stop. Without definite dates you can%26#39;t book a cheap (non-refundable) fare. I know NW sells gift certificates, US probably does the same. If you don%26#39;t have the dates before Christmas, maybe print up your own gift certificate for them. That way you can set dates later when you know everyone%26#39;s scheduled and book the best fare on any airline.

Go to Kayak.com. They will give you comparative fares with several airlines (Southwest is not included). Southwest does not fly non-stop. There is a connection at Chicago-Midway. Indeed, only US Air and Northwest fly non-stop. Moms
My best friend lives in Philly (actually in Doylestown) and I always fly NWA.com, its non-stop! I agree with the previous poster, try Kayak and they compare almost all airlines.
In the spring/summer Spirit flies from Detroit to AC (i believe its a seasonal route), that is a direct flight and I use Spirit when I meet her and her family at the shore.
Two other sites that compare multiple airlines are sidestep.com and bookingbuddy.com
US Air has always been the cheapest on flights I%26#39;ve taken to and from Philly. They have lost my bags or damaged them twice now though.
I like Fare Compare to search for airlines.

You can purchase a full fare, refundable ticket and change the travel dates as you please. But they are about $1,200 each.
You%26#39;ve got to sign up for the Philadelphia-Detroit route at Airfare Watchdog - http://www.airfarewatchdog.com.
They%26#39;ll email you all the crazy sale fares that pop up in the system, it%26#39;s quite a site, they research everything by hand, which gives it the edge over sites like Fare Compare. I signed up for one of my usual routes and in the process saved a whole bundle of money.
