Driving/ Parking for Final Four

Looking at coming to the Final 4 in April, and I have a reservation at the Sheraton in Novi. How long will it take to get to Ford Field from here with all the extra traffic? Is parking going to be very difficult? Are there any options for public transportation?

Thanks for the advice!

Driving/ Parking for Final Four

You are looking at about a 40 min commute during off peak traffic. If you are headed to Ford Field during rush hour (3-5 pm) you could be looking at 1 hour +. There is plenty of parking around Ford Field. No public transportation to speak of, there may be some shuttles running to different parking locations, I haven%26#39;t heard of any yet.

There are surface lots and garages close to Ford Field and Comerica Park. Check the map at www.fordfield.com.

You could park at one of the more distant lots and take the People Mover to avoid the worst of the crowd. The People Mover is an elevated tram that encircles the central business district. Exit at the Broadway or Grand Circus Park station and walk 2-3 blocks to Ford Field, the fare is $.50.

For garages owned by the Detroit Municipal Parking Authority, check the map at: http://tinyurl.com/5m26rk

You should probably allow about 45-60 minutes for the drive from Novi. Two of the easiest places to park would be the Joe Louis or Cobo Hall Garages. You can enter them directly from the Lodge Fwy and there is a People Mover Station adjacent to each.

If you%26#39;re planning to eat downtown, several restaurants offer free shuttle service to the arenas and theatres. You can leave your car at the restaurant and the shuttle will return after the game. The Roma Cafe and Hard Rock have shuttles and I believe Andiamo%26#39;s Riverfront does as well.

Thanks, that%26#39;s very helpful!

Have you thought about booking a hotel closer?? Traffic can be pretty brutal in Detroit. Take a look at Southfield or even Warren. There are some nicer hotels there and the drive to Ford Field would be a lot quicker for you.

Rivers Edge Grille (formerly River Rock), Sindbad%26#39;s and Nemo%26#39;s also have shuttles. I%26#39;d choose Nemo%26#39;s over the others for ease of access and frequency of shuttle service.

yelp.com/detroit will have location and contact info and web links for the various restaurants.

I agree that Novi is really far, but it seems the entire area has sold out for Final Four.
