Is Harolds Resort a good place to stay??

Hello :-) My boyfriend and I are planning a romantic weekend trip to Traverse City in a few weeks and we would appreciate any info on Harold%26#39;s Resort or any other cabins nearby. We have been to Traverse City several times but have always stayed in a hotel so we thought we would look into staying in a cabin this time. We were hoping to find one with a hot tub :-) Thanks!

I have no idea about the amenities at Harolds Resort, but I%26#39;m guessing that you%26#39;ve checked out their web page. My only advice is: Spider Lake, in a couple of weeks, will be a very quiet location and ';maybe'; the ice will be off the water. It%26#39;s a bit out of town and if ';romantic'; means kind of isolated, then it should be OK. I%26#39;d suggest one of the downtown/near hotels.

Thanks for the reply! We have stayed in several hotels downtown (Holiday inn, Hampton Inn, etc.) and were just looking to do something a little different. I know it%26#39;s off season so that%26#39;s why we were looking to stay in a cabin with a hot tub which Harold%26#39;s Resort has.

We were also planning on doing some wine tasting too....would you recommend staying at one of the winery%26#39;s bed and breakfasts, like Black Star Farms?

Thanks!

Well, it%26#39;s just me, and being a resident, I%26#39;ve not stayed at the local B%26amp;B%26#39;s... but I%26#39;d think that a ';winery B%26amp;B'; would be quite a bit more romantic than Spider Lake in March. I%26#39;m familiar with the Wellington B%26amp;B, downtown TC, and that%26#39;s very nice.. and I%26#39;m a Park Place fan, though some find it too old for their taste... but the convenience of walking to everything downtown outweighs it for me. I%26#39;d save the Spider Lake area for good weather.

At this time of year, I would stay closer to town and save Spider Lake for nicer weather. Black Star Farms is a very nice property about 15 minutes towards Suttons Bay. The Wellington Inn, as was suggested, is old, historic and within walking distance of the downtown and would be a nice choice for this time of year.

Have fun.
