I plan on a trip early June going to Duluth, Ashland and then Mackinaw City Mi. Not sure how long to stay in each place,want to see Apostle Islands, waterfalls, scenic trip. I think Inn of Lake Superior in Duluth, Clearwater in Mackinaw City but not sure about Ashland or is this too much for 7-8 day trip, any advice??

for the Apostle Islands I recommend staying in Bayfield. Neat town to explore as well. For lodging you%26#39;ll enjoy: www.seagullbay.com Very nice place with Lake Superior view in nearly every room there. It is in a quiet location off the main strip but walking distance to town. There%26#39;s a trail below going to town or the other way and you can bike/walk along Lake Superior. For Duluth the perfect location was the Comfort Inn and Suites right near the lift bridge. Nice lodging there. You can watch the ships come in or walk along the trail along the shoreline, etc. Ashland is nice in passing but I%26#39;d much prefer Bayfield to Ashland for staying at and spending my time. There are many neat sights in Bayfield. Visit the Bayfield, WI forums or message me for further info. I%26#39;ve been there several times in the past five years. They also feature great shows at the Big Top and more.

With Mackinaw City as a base, I would allow at least three full days - one for visiting Mackinac Island, one for eastern UP attractions and one for stuff in and around Mackinaw plus driving down to Cross Village and through the tunnel of tree road along the cliff on the lake Michigan shore toward Harbor Springs. The balance of that day plus the evenings would let you do things in Mackinaw.
You could easily spend longer, but that would be a good minimal coverage of highlights.
Tahquamenonn Falls is a must see. Ocqueoc Falls east of Roger%26#39;s City is pretty, but small.
During your drive between the two locations, I would plan on visiting Grand Marais for the sand dunes and Sable Falls. http://www.mightymac.org/sup20.jpg And stopping at Munising to see several more falls plus doing the Pictured Rocks cruise. www.mightymac.org/munisingpicturedrocks.htm
Eeek! ';Tahquamenon Falls';
don%26#39;t miss Tahquamenon Falls as lighthouse lover suggested. Beautiful!
