Has anyone had any experience staying at the two story loft listed as vrbo.com/160224? Its description reads ';Located in historical Brush Park...two blocks from the Downtown Area.'; Any comments about the area and accessibility for the Detroit Jazz Fest would also be appreciated.
Detroit two story loft -- Vacation Rental by OwnerThe place looks beautiful. But I wish I knew the actual address to give you a better read on it. As someone else said to you in a different thread... Brush Park is being regentrified... slowly.... and is not a destination area in itself.
Detroit two story loft -- Vacation Rental by OwnerI%26#39;m waiting for the owner to respond to my request for a street address, so that I can mapquest the distance to Hart Plaza.
Free secure gated parking with no in/out restrictions is a plus...though I%26#39;d expect to walk rather than drive what I estimate as 1.5 miles to Hart Plaza for the jazz fest.
30-something stepsons may be returning to loft late at night after gambling. Where are casinos/Greektown in relation to Brush Park?
Motor City Casino is the closest and would be walkable, but I wouldn%26#39;t do it late at night. I would take a cab, even for a few blocks.
They could take your car back and forth. I%26#39;m sure they could get validated parking.... I understand you can do that at Greektown Casino.
I don%26#39;t gamble so I don%26#39;t know for sure. Hopefully someone who has actually gone to the casinos will come along and answer you.

Greektown casino is probably about a mile south of Brush Park - depending on where in Brush Park. Can be a long walk after a night of fun. I would probably drive or cab it.
Am I hearing that it%26#39;s considered prudent leaving a casino to take a cab even for a few blocks after midnight and maybe I shouldn%26#39;t be overly concerned about the vrbo location in Brush Park? For example, the 30-somethings should plan to take a cab even if we have rooms at the Courtyard?
I think it really depends on the exact location of the condo. If you are in the first ones right on Woodward just north of I-75 it is not a bad walk as you are in the Foxtown/Stadium area, walk over the freeway and are there. If it is farther north/east you might have several blocks of more run-down, somewhat abandoned buildings. I don%26#39;t really know that area much since I have never had the need to venture there, other than seeing the new condos from the Fox area.
The condo%26#39;s location is four blocks north of I-75 and one block east of Woodward.
There isn’t much around Motor City Casino so if you are talking about walking from that casino after midnight I would suggest getting a cab regardless of where you stay. If you were at the Courtyard - if there are crowds out late at night then they could walk from Greektown to the hotel but use common sense and be aware of your surroundings. I’ve walked in that area with a group of women late at night and never have had an issue but again- be smart about it. I’m not sure I would walk over I75 after midnight. I would suggest a cab for that ride as well.
