Cider Mills/Apple Farms suggestions needed: Rochester Hills

Yes, these were very helpful, U! Thank you so much. One of our kids just moved to this area, and so we must continue the fall tradition of visiting the Apple Farm :) !! Time for new ones, instead of Baynes and Leaman%26#39;s! I still miss the old Bintz%26#39;s!

Yates has always been a great little cider mill in Rochester Hills. It is not a large production cider mill but it is nestled along the river with the typical cider mill food fare and little extras like bagged apples, gourds, pony rides, and a petting farm. If you are looking for something larger with hayrides, corn mazes, pick-your own pumpkins, raspberries, etc. then you will have to head farther northeast towards the Romeo area. HEre are a couple of the popular ones in that area:

Blake farms – 2 locations (Armada) – http://www.blakefarms.com/

Westview Orchards (Romeo) – http://www.westvieworchards.com/

Miller’s Big Red Apple Orchard (Washington) – http://www.millers-bigred.com/index.htm

We like Yates too. There is a very pleasant walking trail there as well.

I highly recommend either Blake%26#39;s or Yates. Blake%26#39;s has everything - pick your own pumpkin, pick apples, hayrides, kids areas and they make an apple cobbler sundae type treat. Some consider Yates to have the best tasting cider and they were an actual mill with the large running wheel and views to see how the cider is made. They sell apples and Michigan fudge and you are close to the Clinton river and trails that parallel it. They are both unique and worth a look.

Another one closer to Royal Oak is the Franklin Cider Mill. I don%26#39;t know much about this one but have relatives that really enjoy it.

Thanks for your suggestions. We have been to the Franklin Cider Mill, it is very nice, but so very crowded in a small area. We will be trying Yates for sure, and a couple others!

Yates Cider Mill has always been my favorite growing up. It%26#39;s just perfect in my opinion. Cider, donuts, apples, little trail to walk, river, pumpkins, pony rides for the kids (I think the ponies are only on the weekend), Mackinac Island Fudge, apples and of course, lots %26amp; lots of bees.

I also like Franklin Cider Mill, not a whole lot to do except drink cider and eat donuts, but our daughter loves to feed the ducks there. They have a little market set up too.. assorted baked goods, honey, pumpkins, apples, etc.

Enjoy!
