Looking for a fun resort over the christmas holidays. Family of four, but not too expensive.
Fun resort over christmas holiday.
Outdoor sports or not ?? Not too expensive can be a wide range... nonetheless, Check out Crystal Mountain, in Thompsonville near TC, nice lodging, skiing (xc and alpine), very comfortable and family friendly - it%26#39;ll be jumping over the holidays... or The Homestead, in Leelanau County, with smaller scale skiing (xc and alpine), on Lake Michigan, a quieter location, surrounded by quaint towns and nice scenery..it%26#39;s where many of us local all taught their kids/grandkids to ski... or Ranch Rudolf, south of TC, near xc skiing trails, snow mobiling, rustic but comfy and ';in the woods for winter';. Or hunker down in TC proper and drive to any of those places. Hope this helps some.

I wrote a review about it if you want to click on my name you can read it.
The casino is also very close and they offer free shuttle service should you want some brief adult time. There is a pool, weight room, and game room. I enjoyed the food at their restaurant too. It is worth a look as it is fairly inexpensive. My kids loved it last year.
Sorry I just saw that you posted in the Traverse City Forum. Soaring Eagle is in Mount Pleasant. Sorry for the confusion.
If you are looking for indoor.... there is of course The Great Wolf Lodge and The Grand Traverse Resort. The Resort has some kids things.... Great Wolf is much more kid/family friendly. Ranch Rudolph would be a great place for outdoor and on the less expensive side I would think.
Have fun!
Brady has 3 of the best responses for this question!
Ranch Rudolph is rather ';rustic'; if that%26#39;s what you%26#39;re looking for. You%26#39;d be better off (with children) at the Grand Traverse Resort or Great Wolf Lodge. Great Wolf has been sending ';locals'; coupons out so I think they are hurting a little...
Also consider Boyne Mountain, about an hour north of TC. They have Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark that%26#39;s really cool for the kiddies. Also, all the skiing and tubing you can handle. Accommodations vary so you can probably get whatever price range you%26#39;re looking for. Hopefully we%26#39;ll have some snow...
Good luck!
LoandSpensMom: YOu have offered what I would say is the best suggestion. Boyne Mountain has turned itself into a true destination all its own. I, however, just tried booking Boyne Mountain between Christmas and New Years and found the rates through the roof for their highest season of all. For my gang a one bedroom suite ran $750.00 per night! Yikes! For that reason, we booked at Bay Harbor. We are able to get a one bedroom suite for $210.00 per night. We plan to take advantage of skiing at both Boyne Highlands and Boyne Mountain. Unfortunately, Bay Harbor does not seem to have an indoor pool but we plan to spend an afternoon at Avalanche Mountain at Boyne then just drive to Bay Harbor. Ally, this alternative may work for you as well. Just a thought! Moms
Wow, Moms, that is a great rate at Bay Harbor. I am surprised Boyne is getting that much for a one-bedroom suite for one night. I about choked when I read that-LOL. How was Hawaii?
Fabulous Tyme! I hate to say it but most of our vacations are spent with extended family, which I love so much. The trip to Hawaii was only the five of us and it was very special. The kids learned to surf and we all learned to snuba. We all also had time to just sit on the beach, admire the beauty and enjoy each other%26#39;s company! Perfect!
Now off to Northern Michigan for some fun in the snow! Moms
You have a nice variety in vacations, Moms!!
You are coming here when we usually go up north, also!
It would have been fun having the possibility of meeting finally!
But.....we are going to Texas this Christmas....LOL.
Hopefully, it will be warm for us down there. Good to see you on MI forum, as always. Glad you had a wonderful family time in Hawaii. I am jealous. :)
