Italian restaurants

looking for some good Italian restaurants in the grand Rapids area for a rehearsal dinner

Italian restaurants

We had ours at Pietros on 28th street. That was 8 years ago but it was very good.

Italian restaurants

Pietros is good, but it%26#39;s always had the feel of a chain type restaurant to me. For a great old-school, independant Italian restaurant, try Vitale%26#39;s on Leonard. There are a couple of Vitale%26#39;s around that are pizza bars, they%26#39;re not what I%26#39;m talking about. Hands down my favorite Italian in GR.

I would recommend:

Noto%26#39;s 616-493-6686

www.notosoldworld.com

or

Tre Cugini 616-235-9339

or

Tuscan Express 616-956-5522

All three have excellent food, service, and atmosphere.

Vitale%26#39;s has good food, but personally I wouldn%26#39;t recommend the atmosphere for a rehersal dinner (Unless you are looking for something very casual).

alissa,

When you mention casual, are you sure you%26#39;re talking about the real Vitale%26#39;s and not the pizza bars? I always thought Vitale%26#39;s had kind of an old world charm...dimly lit, checkered table cloths, etc. The kind of place you might expect to see Tony Soprano sitting in the back corner.

Your suggestion for Noto%26#39;s is great though...that%26#39;s one that totally slipped my mind.

We just ate at Monelli%26#39;s on Wilson near M6 and thought their spahetti was GREAT. Sort of had a sweet taste to it. I%26#39;m not sure if they have segregated rooms for a rehearsal dinner but it might be worthwhile calling them.

Vitale%26#39;s gets my vote, too!

Mangiamo. Awesome food and atmosphere!

Mangiamo - it%26#39;s in an old mansion that is gorgeous and the food%26#39;s good too! We actually had our reherseal dinner there when the restaurant had a different name. Beautiful.

Tuscan Express is also good, but oddly located in a strip-mall type of setting. Not sure if they do groups either.

Noto%26#39;s has alays been hit-and-miss with me.Same with Tre Cugni.

Pietro%26#39;s is good but nothing over the top. Doesn%26#39;t feel as much as a ';special'; place for something like a rehearsal dinner.

Hope this helps,

Kris
