Does anyone know when the DT Fort Shelby will begin taking reservations?
I know it is a long shot, but hoping I could get a room for the NCAA Final Four. Everything else downtown is booked solid.
Thanks.
Doubletree Fort Shelby
As of today, their website says only that:
';This hotel will be joining the Hilton Family soon but is not yet accepting reservations. It is scheduled to open in December 2008.';
Hotel openings always are subject to a little delay, but you should keep checking their website every week or so for the latest. If they actually open in December, they should start to take reservations anytime soon.

As per my knowledge DT Fort Shelby reservations had not yet started. Most of the times they delay this.
Its bit difficult to get the room in it if you are not update of the information. Keep on creaking the websites for knowing the updated information. I Will ping you when the reservations are opened...

Today, the hotel%26#39;s site said they are now accepting reservations for January 30, 2009 and beyond.
Jan. 30? Wow. Saw a TV News piece saying the hotel had rezzies for the North American International Auto Show, which is Jan. 11-25 at Cobo Center. They are rushing around to get the darn thing completed. The common areas are still under construction.
So....
Separate but related topic, Greektown Casino%26#39;s hotel is now accepting reservations as well. They are scheduled to open in February 2009.
The Greektown Casion Hotel would be a wonderfully convenient place to stay, if you can still get reservations for the Final Four dates.
From their site:
';We%26#39;re now accepting reservations for February 2009 and beyond! Contact our Sales Department now via email or at 877.GCH.5554';

If you can%26#39;t get a Downtown reservation, you might consider reserving at a motel in the %26#39;burbs-- before even those become outrageously overpriced, or sell out entirely.
For one idea, the Travelodge in Royal Oak is by no means luxurious, but it is in a nice enough area, right on the SMART suburban bus line (if you%26#39;d like to leave your car and bus back and forth to Downtown), and still has rooms available as far as I know.
