Fall Color Report

I thought I would start a new post for people that would like to report what the Fall Colors look like in their area for this Fall Color Season.

As the Fall Colors change you could update your report.

Here in Manistique, in the Upper Peninsula, at the tip of Lake Michigan, the colors are about 15%.

Fall Color Report

Bay City, mid-MI, nothing...lol. Yet. An odd branch here and there.

Fall Color Report

Here in the Keweenaw we are at 50% plus. Probably 10 days, at the most, and it%26#39;s all going to be gone.

I%26#39;d put our color here at the tip of the mitt at about 10%. With the cold and rain we%26#39;ve been having, I%26#39;d say we%26#39;re 10 days or so from peak.

Oscoda Au Sable high trail and lumbermans monument. The kids and I hicked 1.75 miles on the high trail and it was 10% at best.

Update - Here in Manistique the colors are about 25% now. Manistique is along Lake Michigan and the color changes slower here because of the location of the Lake near us. The temperature of the Lake keeps it warmer in this area and thus cause the colors to change slower.

Colors will change quicker inland because of the cooler nights.

Update...

Colors here around the Northern tip of the lower peninsula really coming on right now...getting better every day! I think this weekend through next weekend will be fantastic color viewing. It seems that the trees bordering open spaces, fields, roads, etc. change first and those are exploding right now! The more heavily wooded areas are still quite green, but for a color drive or a fall hike right now is awesome. The weather%26#39;s supposed to be gorgeous all weekend too!

Sebewaing, Western Thumb (I call it the %26#39;hangnail%26#39; area of the Thumb): We have the beginning of a lovely Fall. The color is about 40% and we%26#39;ve had the most perfect weather. I%26#39;d take this year around! Sunny and mid-60s. Even the nights haven%26#39;t been too cold. We are going to have to start raking soon as the leaves are falling quickly.

I hope the Upper color holds for a couple more weeks as we have a road trip planned for the 24th weekend to the Escanaba area.

Very near peak here in Houghton and Keweenaw counties. The yellows and oranges seem especially vivid this year.

Things have changed here quick in Manistique in the Upper Peninsula. The colors are about 75%. The colors here are not as bright as some years. More of a soft color.

Just returned from Traverse City and color was at least 50%. Some places it seemed more. Very beautiful and I would guess at least another week or so of color there.
