Greyhound station in Detroit

Ok, So I live on 9 and kelly. So I%26#39;m having my friend Josh come in from Baltimore and Although I know Detroit it not the best place it%26#39;s the cheapest and closest spot where I can have his bus arrive. My only problem is I%26#39;ve been by the station and it looks decrepit. Like windows busted out and all that...I tried to call and see if they are still in business but all the phone does at any time or line is ring.. Does any one know if the station is currently in buisness my guess would be yes seeing as it%26#39;s on the selection list for ticketing but I%26#39;m not soo sure

Greyhound station in Detroit

I checked out that Greyhound station a month ago after they never answered the phones for days on end, regardless of the hour. Didn%26#39;t see any broken windows, but the station isn%26#39;t all that inviting either. The location is on the edge of downtown and, aside from passengers and their relatives/friends, no one was around when I visited. Security guards were inside the terminal, but not outside.

We use that station on a semi-regular basis. No problem. Don%26#39;t recall seeing any broken windows, but there may be. You (in a car) can stand in front of the station to pick up your friend.

The area is kind of desolate, but John King Books is right around the corner so its not as though no one is ever around. Mercury Coffee Bar, Slows BBQ and Mexicantown are all in that just-west-of-downtown area, though in all cases farther west than the Greyhound station.

Don%26#39;t be afraid of downtown generally! Lots going on there, and quite fun. See also

Wondering if the poster went by the old station downtown? Or has that been made into something else.

The old Greyhound station used to be at Congress and Randolph behind the City-County Building. It opened in 1958 and was demolished about 1990 to make way for the Comerica Tower.

He may have gone past the former Greyhound maintenance garage on West Fort around 15th Street. http://www.agilitynut.com/07/7/greyhound3.jpg It closed around 1988 but the Greyhound name was still on the building when I last passed it. I believe the state leases part of the facility, but the remainder is vacant.

Yes, the old maintenance station still has the Greyhound name on it (saw it yesterday). But that%26#39;s not the actual station. The actual station is at 1001 Howard and is in acceptable shape, no windows busted or anything. I used it back in September to ride out to Lansing. No problem at all. There are a bunch of homeless people hanging out around there but I guess that%26#39;s in a lot of other stations around the country too.
