Won tickets to Pistons game Super Bowl Sunday need help

I am from out of state and won 2 tickets to Pistons/Cavs game Super Bowl Sunday and $200 in Visa card for overnight accommodations. Trying to figure out where my friend and I should spend our time in Detroit watching Super Bowl and finding a place to stay. Was thinking MGM because of the action but worried it may be hundreds of people trying to watch the game in the sportsbook. Does anyone know of a good Super Bowl party that is going on that is open to the public? Thinking I should find something decent to stay at and use the balance of the money on drinks and food! Any suggestions? Thanks!

I don%26#39;t believe MGM Grand Detroit has a sports book - pretty sure sports betting is not legal in Michigan.

Superbowl seems to be more of a home party day than a bar day, at least in my experience. You could try the Metro Times (metrotimes.com) and Real Detroit (http://www.realdetroitweekly.com/content/) for bars advertising parties.

Solonman - you are aware that the Pistons don%26#39;t actually play in Detroit but in Auburn Hills, right? Lots of nice hotels off 75 near the Palace. I%26#39;m sure they%26#39;ll all be having some sort of gathering for the Superbowl.

Yes I know the Palace is north of the city. I guess I am trying to find something with a lot of action since I am not going to be home to watch it. Basically 2 funloving guys ( straight!) away from their significant others and want to party! Probably not going to happen....

Just trying to help out a little here. Can%26#39;t speak from experience for places to watch the game, but there is the Post Bar across the street from the Palace http://www.postbar.com/ and another place in Rochester Hills (about 10 miles) called the Hills Bar %26amp; Grille http://www.thehillsbar.com/ . It%26#39;s been several years, but I stayed at the Crowne Plaza and the Hyatt Place in Auburn Hills and like both hotels. The Crown Plaza is a full service hotel, so they may have a place to watch the game.

Have fun!

Thanks - we for sure will grab a beer there before the game (Post Bar). Anyone out there having a bash at their establishment? Seems like none of the casinos are doing anything for the Super Bowl. Its a 3 hour drive back home so if we decided to drive back we would miss most of the first half! I will not give up in finding a party in or near Detroit! We will bring vodka and beer and organize the square pool! LOL

Just a FYI the Big Buck Brewery in Auburn Hills has been closed for at least a couple years now. So sad.

I can%26#39;t believe there%26#39;s nothing going on around Detroit. I did some looking and couldn%26#39;t find anything. Like one reply mentioned, it is more about having parties at home.

What about Tony Packo%26#39;s in Toledo? The one by the 5/3 stadium. I love them! It%26#39;s just a short drive off of I-75. I believe they had several tv%26#39;s around.

Be careful driving home.

That%26#39;s too bad re: Big Buck Brewery.

Didn%26#39;t think about staying in Toledo. Its a thought. Would get us closer to home for the next morning. Wherever we end up watching the game we obviously will find a room nearby so I will check out Toledo hotels also. Can%26#39;t believe casinos could care less about the Super Bowl.

Bear in mind that this is Detroit Lions%26#39; country, so Super Bowl isn%26#39;t exactly front and center in our minds!

Honestly, most sports bars in the Detroit area will have the game on and probably a good crowd, even if they aren%26#39;t doing a special Super Bowl party. Cheli%26#39;s is another one (Detroit and Dearborn locations) in addition to the ones others mentioned already.
