Marenisco Area - Need Info Please

I%26#39;ll be heading to the Marenisco area this July for a work-related retreat and staying at the Root Cellar with 11 other people. It%26#39;s my first trip to Michigan and I%26#39;m looking for ideas for things to do and see in the area in my downtime. I%26#39;m 30-something, pretty active and into crafts, museums, unusual sites, good restaurants, the outdoors and large bodies of water ;-)

Thanks for your help.

Hello trinigirlmd,

You will have to check out the Porcupine Mountains -

You are also close to Lake Gogebic. The Central and Eastern time zones are right where you are to. One part of Lake Gogebic is in the Central the other in the Eastern. Makes it fun for last call.

It%26#39;s a beautiful area- but pretty far from any town of any size. Definitely no good restaurants, museums, etc. But you are near Lake Gogebic, and not far from Lake Superior. As was mentioned, the Porcupine Mountains are close, and offer great hiking and backpacking.
