Does anyone know if this place still exists? I used to hang out there when I went to State, many, many years ago!
For those who don%26#39;t know, a fragel is like bagel dough that is deep fried and rolled in sugar and cinnamon. Yeah, to die for!
It was either called the Bagel Fragel, or the Fragel Bagel, can%26#39;t remember!
Bagel Fragel
I am an MSU alumni too. Bagel Fragel left years ago, can%26#39;t remember what year and they never relocated since then. Sorry to burst your bubble.
If you haven%26#39;t been to E. Lansing in awhile you should check it out. Grand River looks different as well as all the changes and additions they have made to MSU campus.
Go Green!
Bagel Fragel
Bagel Fragel closed about three years ago. There is a coffee shop there now called Espresso Royale. There aren%26#39;t any places in lansing that make fragels now but when i lived in the detroit area one of the bagel shops there made them. Bagel fragel was awesome. it is much missed.
I%26#39;m afraid the only Bagel Fragel left is at 1754 Plymouth Road in (*shudder*) Ann Arbor.
From and old MSU alum who used to spend lots of time in Ann Arbor. Fragel history...during my years at MSU/UM the late 60s early 70s the first Fragel was sold. They had a contest to name it and it was won by ';a friend of a friend';. Thanks for the tip on where to still get them, I thought they had all closed.
Unfortunately, not only did Bagel Fragel go out of business (thanks to Brueger Bagels moving in two doors down!), so did Bagel Haul in Haslett. We now have no locally-owned and operated non-chain bagel shops left in the area. East Lansing has been a victim of the demise of mom-and-pop shops; we%26#39;re so much the worse for it!
There%26#39;s a great Bagel shop in Jackson called Kennedy%26#39;s Kibby Kobb Real Bagel Bagel. There bagel sandwiches are the bomb.........The only sandwich place I know of in Michigan that uses Boars Head Meat %26amp; Cheeses.

I really miss the Bagel Fragel and the Bagel Haul. Although these two businesses were not related, their bagels were very similar, and I have not found that style of bagel anywhere else.
Does anyone know if the Bagel Fragel shop in Ann Arbor (mentioned above) was related to the shop in East Lansing - and more importantly, do they have the same style of bagel?
Has anyone else found a bagel store *anywhere* that has this ';East Lansing'; style bagel?
Wow, I haven%26#39;t thought about Bagel Fragel in years! The fragels were sooooo good! I went to MSU in the late 70s/early 80s, and yes, Grand River looks very different now.
My dad use to have me bring him home Fragels during my freshmen year.... but the closed, and he literally cried. (My whole family of MSU alum%26#39;s swear it was the best treat ever!!!)
I think they closed my sophomore - junior year... so 1996 0r 1997!!! Someone needs to bring this heavenly place back!
I%26#39;m so sad....this was one of the first things I was going to look for on my trip back next weekend!!!
At least I still have El Az.
