Need recommendation for snow shoe trails

Folks, we need some recommendations for snow shoe trails in West %26amp; Northern MI. We are starting out the new year with brand new show shoes and a new years resolution to improve our health by shedding a few pounds. BK (before kids) we had cross country nordic skis so I am sorta aware of public trails etc but that was 20 years ago. Are there groomed show shoe trails around anywhere? Our first outing is going to be Ludington State Park when we get snow again, hopefully after the first of the year. Other than state parks where else could we go? Nothing too long or difficult as we are beginners. Thanks

Hello doggy1,

There is a web site called Trails that list snowshoe trail. Click the link below to go there -

I figure when you said Northern Michigan you were talking about Grand Rapids and up to Mackinaw City.

Thank You Yooperbacker, you are a wealth of information!!!! After 60+ degree temps yesterday we lost 90% of our snow. Our dream would be to take a weekend and head up to your neck of the woods and snow shoe up there. We%26#39;ll start with some closer to us. Thanks again Deb.

Deb,

We%26#39;ve really gotten into snowshoeing the last few years, and the beauty of snowshoes (at least in my opinion) is that you really don%26#39;t need a groomed trail in any way. Any summer hiking trails will make great snowshoe trails...we even just go right out our back door!

Have fun, but don%26#39;t over do it...snowshoeing%26#39;s quite strenuous at first, remember to leave enough energy reserves to comfortably get back!

DHC-just sent you a P.M.
