We want to book an hotel before and after our flight from Detroit Airport (is the international airport the Metro airport?).
We are 2 adults and 2 children (aged 3 and 5) and would like to have good but reasonably priced accommodation that includes parking for the 8 nights that we shall be away plus shuttle service to the airport.
If possible we would like to pay no more than $100 US per night.
Any recommendations?

Recommendations for hotels near Detroit airport?
hamilton44,
Yes, THE international airport is Detroit Metro. In fact, Detroit has only one airport that is served by regularly scheduled passenger flights. (There is another airport, the much smaller Coleman A. Young International Airport. It is for general aviation and no longer is served by scheduled passenger flights).
Detroit Metro is very large, has lots of international flights (mostly to Asia and Europe) and is located about 12 to 15 miles west of the city on I-94.
DTW (Detroit Metro) should be the airport you%26#39;re flying into. La Quinta often offers a $100 special park and fly room rate. The lot is secured and right next door to the hotel. You can check your car the night before or do it in the morning. Shuttles run from the hotel and from the lot at all hours. I believe that rate includes 7 nights parking but most hotel managers will deal and give you the eighth night free. If not I doubt it would be more than $10 for an extra day.
I%26#39;ve used this hotel several times when I%26#39;ve had red eyes to catch.
Thanks for the advice. In the end we booked the Fairfield Marriott which has a rate of $110 which includes 8 days secure parking....and also continental breakfast.
I think we could have got a cheaper option but in the end decided to book directly with the hotel.
We had considered HoJo which had a better rate but my daughter had such a dreadful experience with a HoJo in Scarborough, Ontario that they were reluctant to try again.
Of course you can%26#39;t judge on the basis of one bad apple but hotel chains need to be vigilant to make sure that each and every hotel is up to the standard expected. I realize that the chains take over some crummy dumps but they need to bring each and every one up to scratch.
Once again thanks for the advice and we will post comments after the stay.
