This will be my first trip to South Haven and I am trying to plan the weekend for a group of about 10-15. I need recommendations!!! We are going in July, so I would guess that most cottages won%26#39;t be able to be rented out for just a weekend, right? Any recommendations for a large group near the beach?
Also, we hope to go a at least one winery. Are recommendations on that? Also restaurant/bar recs would be great. Basically I am just getting started planning this and would appreciate any info! Thank you!
Where to stay/what to do for a Girl's Weekend?I%26#39;d suggest you stay at a bed and breakfast. The Carriage House at the Harbor is very nice and has a great location.
The Old Harbor Inn is downtown but its pretty ';tired';. There are a few condos that rent for 3 days but they are a bit tough to find.
The Round Barn is a nice winery to visit. Tabor Hill has a great restaurant - both are a bit of a drive from South Haven. Karma Vista is closer (I think) and they have a nice atmosphere.
Make sure you have a drink at Captain Lou%26#39;s at the bridge. Great place to soak up the sun on a Saturday afternoon. Have fun!
Where to stay/what to do for a Girl's Weekend?hmm...i%26#39;d do either old nichols....its a nifty but historic inn that would be a lot of fun with girlfriends...or just go with hampton inn by the highway....some of the b %26amp; bs have twin beds available...i think sand castle is one of them....never heard anything great about the management but it looks cute from the outside...
you could ck with the rental companies...if the economy is still tanking you never know if they%26#39;ll have a cottage for less than a week...
agree on the tabor hill idea...nice winery with some good wines...yummy lunch spot...
i love love clementines for dinner...put your names on their list and wander the town while you wait (in the summer it can be a LONG wait!)...dont miss the short peg of onion rings...agree on capt lous for a beer in the hot sun...the ';party boat'; off old harbor can also be a fun place for a drink alfresco in the summer...there is often entertainment in town...you%26#39;ll have to check...on Thursdays they have free concerts on the black river...nothing earth shattering music wise but always fun...
the michigan theatre is cramped but cheap and shows 1st run movies on the cheap!
enjoy
Lucky you, being the trip planner for a group!
Just a thought for you, if you are driving from St Louis, you may want to stop at the Lighthouse Outlet Mall in Michigan City, IN then drive up to coast to South Haven. We have found some bargains there.
Whatever you do,have a great time and happy planning!
