? about beach across from Hampton Inn

Can you tell me about the beach across the street from the Hampton Inn? State Park Beach. Are there restrooms or concessions? Can you walk from the Hampton Inn or do you need to drive in and pay a parking fee for the day? Any info appreciated to help plan an August weekend.

Thank you.

I think you would be taking a chance by walking over from the Hampton; I do not know if the person in the booth would stop you and ask for payment or not. Never have thought about that! If you drive, they will want payment and at this time I am not sure what the new fees would be, but last year was $6 daily, I believe. Bathrooms are available. Not sure about concessions. Good chance you could just walk down to the state park entrance and then cross over (though that is a dangerous crossing; very, very busy). Better yet would be to walk down thru the campground along the fence and cross using the elevated crosswalk, and then you would not have to pay..though it is a block or two of walking, I believe.

Thank you. I was not trying to avoid paying the state park fee just trying to figure out the set up. Is the beach nice there? Good for swimming?

The beach is fine, swimmng good... but no concessions. Be careful crossing the street.. use the light. The TART bike/hike trail is behind the Hampton and also offers a nice way to get into TC, if you have a bike or want a nice long walk.

Oh, I wasn%26#39;t suggesting you were, vnbond! But if you can walk down to elevated crossover, then I would. If not, then cross over (very carefully) and ask at the booth, if you wish. I am glad someone posted about consessions. I just could not remember. Duh! We camp there a lot...lol. Good swimming, nice beach, very busy usually.

Thanks for the advice, it sounds like it will work for us. Maybe we will take our bikes up too so we can ride into town.

In August, with summer weekend traffic, you%26#39;ll be glad you brought your bikes. The TART trail has been a great addition to TC and biking downtown is more fun than driving on a summer weekend... at least in my opinion.
