We fly to dallas from detroit at 7 am.... what time do we need to be at the airport?
airport check inHello bakeralvin,
To be safe I would say two hours before. 5 am. If you haven%26#39;t flown in awhile the time that is on your ticket for departure time is the time that airplane is just getting in the air, not the time they close the door at ticket check in. That is my experience anyway.
I haven%26#39;t flown in a year so maybe others will have better up to date advice.
airport check inI would plan on hitting the security checkpoint around 6 am. Security in DTW is pretty efficient, especially that early. If you have luggage to check, plan on hitting the counter around 5:45 or so. You don%26#39;t mention airline, so make sure you get the right terminal. NW/Delta/Continental = McNamara Terminal. Everyone else = North terminal.
we are Flying American at 7 am... not planning on checking any bagage... So will try to be there 5:45...
Every time I%26#39;ve had a flight that early in the morning, DTW was pretty dead. If you check in online at home, you can get there 60-90 minutes prior and still be safe. You might want to go 90 if you%26#39;ve never been there before. Make sure you know what terminal you are going to though, you wouldn%26#39;t want to be wasting time driving around.
Also, if you can%26#39;t print your boarding passes at home, do the computer kiosk at the airport for each airline - it is so much faster! Usually you will only have 1 person in front of you rather than 10 in the regular line.
Enjoy your trip!!
