Can u recommend?

Best Western of Petoskey for a weekend? Seems to get decent reviews. Won%26#39;t be there much at all. Don%26#39;t want to spend a lot of money for this weekend, I will be spending my money at Boyne...lol.

Can u recommend?

Obviously I haven%26#39;t stayed there, but believe it or not, I have stayed at the BW Harbor Springs which is about half the distance to Boyne from Petoskey. I believe that they%26#39;re both about the same vintage, and as northern Michigan motels go, during ski season, you can expect decent accomodations. Nothing spectacular, but adequate. Have you checked for the BWHS? It would be more convenient.

We used to send our overflow from the Harbor Springs Motor Inn (when my family owned it, and it was still there) to what is now the BWHS.

Can u recommend?

I will check that out, Red. I didn%26#39;t know they had one. Just need someplace simple, since we won%26#39;t be spending much time there at all. Will let you know what we do..!

They have no vacancy when we are going, RedRox. Thanks for the suggestion, anyway.

I just checked out the BWHS this week for an event I am having in Harbor Springs in July. It is family run and they live on site. Nice people. We checked out a couple of rooms. Clean and up to date. They have a pool and nice breakfast area. Free highspeed internet access. Halfway between Harbor and Petoskey. 5 miles to Boyne and Nubs Nob. FYI Non-smoking and no pets.

Thanks for the great info, J. I did check out the availability and they are full for when we plan on going....but I will keep it in mind for future use.

Hey there 1stTimeJamaica! Nice to see you here again. I think of you every time I put on my %26#39;Frogman%26#39; shirt ;-)

Wore it 2 weeks ago in Laughlin and it brought me good luck.

Hey Tyme,

Glad to hear you%26#39;re coming up for a ski weekend! While I can%26#39;t comment on the Best Western, I%26#39;d suggest you look into any package ski/stay deals at boyne...maybe they have some specials going? Also, do yourself a favor and try to get some skiing in across the street at Nubs Nob...I%26#39;ve been skiing and boarding both Nubs and Boyne for the last 20 years and I much prefer Nubs...much more low key, but the skiing and snow are better as is the general attitude there. Nothing against Boyne, they%26#39;re still great but there%26#39;s a reason all the locals ski at Nubs ;)

If you are just looking for a place to sleep, Best Western in Petoskey is great. My husband and I stayed there a few years back and they upgraded us to a jacuzzi tub room at no extra charge. It was nice to relax in that after being out in the chilly weather.

I%26#39;ve stayed at Boyne Mountain in their condos before, the prices were not all that bad, especially if you are splitting the cost between a handful of people (I don%26#39;t know if that%26#39;s the case or not). Anyway, might be worth checking into if you want to be a few steps from the mountain. There is also a hotel right next to Boyne Mountain called the ';Brown Trout';, nothing fancy but convenient location!

Have fun!

Thanks for the suggestions and replies. Brown Trout was full for the time period we have chosen to go. And there really wasn%26#39;t any deals to be had at Boyne, either. Again, just need a place to sleep and shower. Might do Nub%26#39;s DH, or both.

Hi Red,

Good to see you here. Sorry it took so long to reply. Glad to hear I (or ';Frogman';) brought you luck. Look forward to seeing you next time you are in Harbor Springs visiting your Mom.

Back to the topic of this post.... For anyone that is still looking to come to Northern Michigan either still this winter for the ski season or any other time. I would recommend the Best Western Harbor Springs. It is one of the more economical places and actually quite nice.

And please take the time to visit the local shops in both Petoskey and Harbor Springs.
