Girls' weekend out

My wife and a few of her friends are shopping at Great Lakes Crossing and staying at the Hilton Suites by the Siverdome next month. Is there any place where they can go to have a few drinks and dance a bit without having to worry about their safety? I%26#39;m not familiar with the area at all but I%26#39;ve heard they may want to steer clear of the Pontiac area, as it may not be the safest place for four small-town gals from Ohio. Any place in the Auburn Hills area that anyone might recommend?

Thanks,

Matt

I would suggest the Post in Auburn Hills, it%26#39;s located across from the Palace, it%26#39;s more my forte then the bars in Pontiac. However with that being said, I have no problems in Pontiac and feel quite safe there, I just prefer the Post over bars in Pontiac.

Thanks... I appreciate your input. I might want to add (although my wife may not want to add ;) ) that this group of women all hover around the 40 year old age bracket. They are very young at heart, tho.

Thanks again!

The problem with the Post is that it is only busy when there is a big event going on at the Palace across the street. Otherwise the place is dead...literally. I would recommend JD%26#39;s Key Club in Pontiac (www.jdskeyclub.com). It is a fabulous dueling piano bar with an upper class crowd. Lots of fun and never any trouble whatsoever. We had my dad%26#39;s 50th birthday there and everyone had a blast.

If they are uncomfortable with Pontiac (which in all honesty I have always felt very safe there) then I would recommend checking out downtown Rochester which is about a 5-10 minute drive from where they are staying. There is Main Street Billiards which has both billiards and dancing (www.msb-bar.com). Also they could check out either Gus O%26#39;Connors Irish Pub which typically has a live band but no dancing (http://www.gusoconnors.com/) or the Rochester Mills Brewery which also has a live band (http://beercos.realfocus.net/index.php). The only other option that I can think of is the Red Ox Tavern across from Oakland University. Great atmosphere and nice bar area. I am pretty sure that they have a DJ on the weekend.

Other than that there is not much ';dancing'; in the nearby area.

I second JD%26#39;s key club, forgot about that one. I think they would have a great time there. The bar is good for any age, I have had fun with my girlfriends that are in our late 20%26#39;s, early 30%26#39;s and family memeber that are in thier 40%26#39;s and 50%26#39;s.

I as a 40 year young gal who lived in Pontiac, say the JD%26#39;s is a good place. There are many in the area. How about looking north? ';Oscars'; is close.
