I won two tickets to see Neil Young on Dec. 7th at the Palace at Auburn Hills! WOOHOO for me!
I need a hotel for one nite for hubby and myself. Clean and safe is paramount, nothing fancy required. A breakfast included would be nice.
What hotels to avoid would be good to know too!
Thanks for any ideas, I love tripadvisor!
hotel for 1 nite, dec. 7th
Check out the Holidy Inn Express on Baldwin Road just 2 exits north of the Palace. It opened in October 2007 and is right outside the Great Lake Crossings Mall with lots of restaurants nearby. I believe that continental breakfast is included in the price
hotel for 1 nite, dec. 7th
Thanks. I did check that one and there were no vacancies for Sunday :-( I did like the sound of it, and it got great reviews here.

There are quite a few hotels within 2 miles south of the Palace. They mainly cater to business travelers during the week. I have not stayed in any of them but check out the reviews/availability on the following:
1) Homestead Studio Suites (University Drive)
2) Staybridge Suites (Opdyke %26amp; Featherstone roads)
3) Hyatt (Featherstone)
4) Candlewood Suites (Opdyke)
5) Fairfield Inn (Opdyke)
6) Marriott Courtyard (Opdyke)
There is also a cute bed %26amp; breakfast along University Drive (1 exit south of Palace) called Cobblestone Manor. You%26#39;d have to check rates/reviews. http://www.cobblestonemanor.com/
Let me know if any of those don%26#39;t work out and I can probably come up with some more options
Thank you for the suggestions.
I looked at the Wingate Inn and that looks like a nice place, what do you know about it?
The Wingate is right next to the Marriott Courtyard and the Fairfield Inn. I%26#39;ve never been inside but it appears to be an average hotel chain. I%26#39;d check the reviews on TA for actual room info. I%26#39;ve never heard anything negative about it myself. The only food in the immediate vicinity is fast food (Tim Hortons, Wendys, Taco Bell, KFC, McDonalds). If you take University Drive over the freeway there are several restaurants near Oakland University (Mongolian BBQ, Palm Palace, Applebees, Macaroni Grill, TGI Fridays, Red Ox Tavern).
I almost forgot to mention that you should most definitely try to visit downtown Rochester (5-10 min drive from hotels along Opdyke). Every Christmas they light up the entire downtown area with a TON of christmas lights. It is gorgeous. www.downtownrochestermi.com/brightlight.html. Very quaint little town with good restaurants and nightlife. They actually have a little motel downtown called the Spartan Inn. I%26#39;ve heard that it is a bit outdated but clean and cheap ($60). Just another option. There is the Royal Park Hotel as well but that is 5 star and about $250/nt
Sorry the weblink does not seem to be working. Just google ';Big Bright Light Rochester'; and you%26#39;ll find the info.
Also if you are interested there is a great Christmas shop in the area (10-15 min drive from hotels) called Canterbury Village. Great Lakes Crossing is also an outlet mall.
Thanks for all of the info! This is a one nite trip because we have to get back home. The Mon. is our daughter%26#39;s birthday, tho she is not living at home anymore, I%26#39;d still like to talk to her. It%26#39;s over a 4 hr drive if we dont run into bad weather and we want to head home in the daylight. If this concert had been on Sat. nite we%26#39;d have had a lot more time to look around.
I found reviews for the Wingate on Expedia.ca and they were all favourable and the brekkie is supposed to be a buffet with waffles, eggs, bacon etc. rather than the stale muffin and cold coffee some places have :-) that%26#39;s why I was leaning towards it.
I will look at the others you mentioned, I saw them too on Expedia and tripadvisor.
Thank you for your help!
