Safe hotel near Van Andel

I am considering taking my daughter to GR for a concert. We%26#39;re from the Detroit suburbs. She%26#39;s 12 and I thought it%26#39;d be a fun mother/daughter weekend. How is the area where Van Andel is located and is there a nice, safe, reasonable hotel nearby?

Any other info you think I might need would be appreciated.

Safe hotel near Van Andel

The downtown area of Grand Rapids (where the Van Andel is located) is very safe. There are several upscale hotels in the immediate area as well as plenty of wonderful restaurants. Downtown Grand Rapids has a great feel, one of my favorite downtown areas in the state...do check it out, I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll have a blast! For hotels, the Amway Grand Plaza, The Courtyard and the new JW Marriott are all within very easy walking distance of the Van Andel. For a special trip, go with the JW...it%26#39;s pricy, but definitely a swanky upscale joint...perfect for a memorable girls weekend. My second choice is the Amway and for more of a price point try the Days Inn Downtown...slightly longer walk, but a cab to the Van Andel will be under $5.

Safe hotel near Van Andel

We just stayed at the Courtyard Marriott last month and it was a really nice hotel! It also has an enclosed walkover to the Van Andel that was really cool to use.

We%26#39;ve also stayed at the Days Inn and it was pretty nice, too. Its not that bad of a walk to the arena either.

The Amway Grand and the new JW Marriott (I%26#39;ve been told) connect to the same walkway.
