Tacky Tinsel Town Car Parade

From today%26#39;s Cheboygan Tribune:





Activities will kick off on Friday, Dec. 5, with a parade down Mackinaw City%26#39;s Central Avenue and a tree lighting to follow. This year will be the fourth annual ';Tacky Tinsel Town Car Parade,'; to be included in the regular procession of police, fire and village vehicles. Hay wagons for those interested in caroling will also be included in the procession.





Anyone can decorate a vehicle for the ';Tacky Tinsel Town Car Parade.'; Prizes will be awarded, with categories including ';Grand Tacky,'; ';Mostly Tacky,'; ';Ha Ha Ho Ho,'; ';Tinsel Tune'; or ';Tinsel Town'; and ';Northern Lights.';





Those participating in the parade are to meet at 4:45 p.m. in the marina parking lot to line up. The parade will begin at 5 p.m. and will end at the Indian Pathways Park on Nicolet Street.





Upon arrival at the park, or around 5:15 p.m., there will be a community blessing, an appearance by Santa and caroling, decorating and tree lighting. At around 5:35 p.m., all will proceed to MeMo%26#39;s in the Mackinaw Crossings for awards, cocoa and cookies with the elves and Mr. and Mrs. Claus and ornament making.



From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, patrons can enjoy shopping and dining in Mackinaw City.





Christmas shopping opportunities will continue Sunday, Dec. 7 from noon to 4 p.m.
