where to buy seafood from local market?

I%26#39;m interested in buying fresh seafood from local market during my ski visit to Boyne Falls next week so we can cook at our resort. Can anybody tell me where I can find one? I also can%26#39;t seem to find good grocery store around the resort area, so any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Your best bet for a good super market is found in Petoskey or Boyne City. There is a nice, not great, Glen%26#39;s in Boyne City. There is a Walmart super store in Petoskey. For fish and a better Glen%26#39;s Market, head to Charlevoix. John Cross Fisheries is among the best in the region, imho. Make sure to pick up some smoked whitefish pate. Yum! The Glen%26#39;s Market on M-66 is a very nice supermarket with upscale items as well as regular items offered. Moms

It%26#39;s a bit of a drive, but I%26#39;d definitely zip up to Glens Fresh Market in Petoskey (there are two Glens in Petoskey, you want the new one...the ';Glen%26#39;s Fresh Market';). I don%26#39;t know what you%26#39;re looking for, but I%26#39;ve been really impressed with their meats and seafood. For example, we just bought sushi grade tuna there for a sushi party last night and it was wonderful. They%26#39;ve had live lobsters on sale the last week or so for $8.99/LB, hey have tons of fresh fish, shellfish, etc. There are also lots of grill foods...stuffed chicken breasts and pork loins, pre seasoned or marinated meats, pre-done kabobs, pinwheel steaks, etc.

The fisheries around can be very good if you%26#39;re looking strictly for Great Lakes fare...whitefish, salmon, trout, etc.

DHC: Where is the new Glen%26#39;s? Is it near K-Mart? It sounds wonderful. I would love to shop there this summer. Please let me know. Thanks, Moms

Hey Moms,

The new Glens is great...nice fresh selection, huge organic section, sushi to order, Starbucks, etc. It%26#39;s really a step up from the grocery stores we%26#39;re used to in Petoskey! Anyway, do you know where Glen%26#39;s North is? It%26#39;s the same store, just had a major overhaul...it%26#39;s North of Bay View, in the plaza across from McDonalds, Pirate%26#39;s Cove, etc.

It sounds like it is near that excellent butcher shop/meat market(can%26#39;t recall the name)near the mini-golf course. I am thrilled to hear there is such a Glen%26#39;s. We usually buy the upscale type foods at Esperance%26#39;s in Charlevoix. They have a wonderful selection but they do not carry sushi or fresh fish. We will have to try it this summer! Thanks, Moms

Tannery Creek%26#39;s the meat market you%26#39;re talking about...I LOVE that place, but Glen%26#39;s is really giving them a run for their money these days. If you%26#39;re into sushi, you should swing into Chandler%26#39;s for a couple of cocktails and a couple of rolls...very good, but a bit pricy...they also have about the best wine list around. As for esperance...awesome...the only problem is I wind up spending about twice what I wanted to every time I go in the place! What a great business though, those owners are really on the ball, they know their market and are spot on.
