We are trying to do everything local for our wedding - its being held in the county we live in - local cake, caterer, etc. When we started getting thinking about our honeymoon, we were thinking out of the state, but due to our th (bikes are oughts about our wedding, we decided to stay a little closer to home and are thinking about Mackinac Island. Now, so you know, we go there every summer about the same time (4th of July, which is around when our wedding is next year) for the day while on our camping vacation. I have stayed on the island once, at the Chippewa, and absolutely loved it. I compared it to an AI in Jamaica, and its actually more expensive to do MI! We need to cut cost, and am hoping someone can give me some good ideas. We are considering The Inn at Stonecliff (one of the condos), but worried about transportation at night (bikes are fine during the day, but not at night after a few drinks) and the high cost, other hotels seem to cost too much. We are looking at renting a cottage for the week, but many of those are outside our budget too. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Stay at Stonecliff and just make arrangements for a taxi. Not all of the horses sleep all night long. And I%26#39;m sure that the folks at Stonecliff will tell you who to call.

(906) 847-3323 but during busy times you may need to call a couple of hours in advance.
I have always found that if I ask the driver nicely (and give a reasonable tip) when they take us to a restaurant for dinner, they will be there waiting when we finish dining at the prearranged time to return us to our lodging.
The Inn at Stonecliffe is an excellent choice. It is such a beautiful setting and very romantic. I have stayed there four times and have never had trouble finding a horse drawn taxi in the evening. Taxis run all day and night.
Enjoy your visit and best wishes! Moms
