Reviews on the hotel have me puzzled. If anyone stayed here recently since the renovation please fill me in on the hotel.
detroit riverside hotelI%26#39;ve heard mixed reveiws as well! I was there for a wedding and it was beautiful. I didn%26#39;t stay at the hotel, however I had friends that stayed in the hotel the night of the wedding and they were happy with thier rooms. The reviews are very up and down!
detroit riverside hotelThis hotel was known as the Ponchartrain for many years. Recently, it closed and re-opened as a Sheraton, but only for a very short time. Most but not all reviews of the property under the Sheraton name were poor. Now it is the Detroit Riverside Hotel and the reviews seem to indicate that the problems haven%26#39;t been corrected.
Depending upon what you will be doing during your visit and the location is good, there is a PeopleMover station nearby. I don%26#39;t care too much about hotel service (just want a clean and secure room), so personally, I would stay here and take my chances if the room rate were reasonable compared with other hotels.
Not a top choice for downtown ... as OPs have mentioned.. it was renovated and under the Sheraton flag briefly... but not anymore. I don%26#39;t think a good job was done on the property.
