do NOT patronize 'gala' restaurant

...unless you want to hear the owner screaming at the employees in the back, be told ';too bad'; if you don%26#39;t like the food,be made to feel unwelcome and treated like dirt by the owner himself, and completely regret you ever walked in the door. His business NEEDS TO CRASH, SO THIS ARROGANT MAN LEARNS A LESSON.

do NOT patronize 'gala' restaurant

I have been to Gala many times. The food has been exciting, creative, gorgous, and delicious. The owner and chef Jeff Condit has come to my table on each visit to ensure that our experience was wonderful. Gala is a mark of distiction to downtown Farmington. Owningand operating a small business can be a very overwhelming challenge. Especially when the majority of people seem to prefer to patronize chain restauants and place a high value on ';super sizing'; everything. Gala%26#39;s theme of ';small bites'; encourages us to step out of our comfort zone and try something we would probably never order off the menu as an entree. I am sorry that ';restaurant reviewer had an unpleasant experience. I sincerely hope his/her review doesn%26#39;t disuade anyone for trying this charming gem.

do NOT patronize 'gala' restaurant

I just googled Gala in Farmington after having the most hideous and uncomfortable experience there and I couldn%26#39;t agree more with the negative post from resaurantreviewer!!!

So what was your %26#39;hideous%26#39; experience at Gala? You failed to tell us. You were probably an obnoxious guest.

I%26#39;ve been there three or four times and have always found the food to be good and the atmosphere pleasing. Several times there they had entertainment, adding to the atmosphere. The prices too are reasonable.

I would say the help is attentive but not overly friendly but that%26#39;s okay with me since I just want good service...I%26#39;m not looking for a friend.

All of you have only 1 post........on Trip. Y?

I thought the same thing Tyme! Interesting, isn%26#39;t it? Moms

Seasoned TripAdvisor users are already hip to this type of slander and will pay it no mind. Same as the one-time poster glorifying a restaurant or cottage rental: those are owners, or their family, duh.

But it%26#39;s hurtful, nevertheless. I can imagine that if I worked a lifetime to own and operate a great restaurant or lodging I would be severely saddened by such a rant. I wish mean people like this (who probably were just as mean at the restaurant, thus their experience was bad) could get internet reviews of their own work by anonymous reviewers. Oh yah, paybacks are hell.

In the meantime, we ignore all caps and crazed rants.

I have eaten at this wonderful restaurant (I have family in the Detroit area) and have never had a bad time or bad meal. I hope other diners will be here to defend this wonderful eatery.

Wow, I%26#39;m intrigued. I shall go there tonight and see for myself...I read a really nice review for it in a mag earlier %26amp; thought that I%26#39;d give it a try.

This may be my first post, but hey, we%26#39;ve all got to start somewhere!

I have eaten at Gala a number of times over the past two years. The food is very good to excellent, the portion sizes are perfect, and the service has always been good.

Ambience...well, the outdoor seating is in the parking lot, so not the greatest, but OK. Indoors, it is in a basement of the building, so it can be chilly and dark. But IMHO, the food is worth the visit.

And no I am not the owner or employee.

Gala is a wonderful little gem in Downtown Farmington. Formally, The Grand Cafe, I have watched the space develop from a high-school hangout - complete with loud house bands and lattes - to a charming little bistro that now houses a grand piano. My mom and I have frequented the lunch special of soup, salad and choice of hot or cold ';bite';. Seafood chowder is a must!!! The crabcake and the dessert trio are also delicious. I LOVE GALA! The owner, Jeff, made my mother%26#39;s marriage reception an incredible success to friends and family in attendance.

It is a MUST-TRY if you live in the area.

1, 2, 3 time posters..there is a bit of a song in there...maybe I will make one up for all of the posters here who fit that description. On such an old old old post. Somehow I have to rhyme ';fake'; in there.....
