All,
How does Detroit%26#39;s Greektown casino compare with the others in Detroit? Better? Worse? Is it bigger? Does it have more table games? Friendly dealers? A Non-smoking section?
What%26#39;s the neighborhood like? Is it ok to walk around during the day? Safe to park the car, etc?
Greektown Casino
We love the Greektown Casino, the neighborhood is fine. The whole street there are all sorts of greek restuarents to eat in (you must eat there!)(my son now lives in Chicago---sz this greektown is better than Chicago%26#39;s :-). Be sure to stop @ Astoria Bakery.
Greektown is a lot like area%26#39;s in Chicago (not so much bars, but restuarants)You will see many people walking around (at night too)--but it is only about 1 long block long. Not too far from Comerica Park, and Ford Field (walkable in good weather)It is one area in Detroit that we feel safe in @ night walking around. There usuhally is alot of people there on weekend nights--you will probably expect to wait in most places eat after games.
We eat in Greektown, than head to casino
Parking---there is a parking garage for the casino--make sure you get your ticket valided when you come in (machine%26#39;s for that)--parking will be free. We never had any problems parking.
It is big casino, yes it does have tables (but we don%26#39;t do the tables). Not sure if there is a non-smoking section (I think there is) Winsor (right across the river is all non-smoking (you need i.d to come back)
Greektown Casino
I think the other casinos are nicer, but with that being said I prefer Greektwon. Its smaller, easier to get around and there are a plethora of restaurants inthe Greektwon area. Attached is a little blurb that was recently in the Detroit Free Press about each casino.
The Greektwon area is great, its safe to walk around day and night. There are churches, little shops, bars, restaurants and bakeries in the area.
Parking is safe, attached to the casino is a parking garage.

The character of Greektown Casino will change dramatically, scott, from the comments you%26#39;ve received here; when the hotel opens. You have the opportunity to do a before and after experience if you choose.
Personally, I think the slots at Detroit casinos are all too, too tight.
Out of all of the casinos, I frequent Greektown the most simply because of it%26#39;s location. It%26#39;s in a perfect spot to make a night out of going downtown. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from, and it also within (what I consider to be) a short walk to Comerica Park %26amp; Ford Field.
However with that said, I probably prefer to visit Motorcity the most out of all of them. Greektown is good, but very cramped %26amp; always busy. Motorcity, since its renovation, has much more space, is very tastefully decorated and doesn%26#39;t quite have the foot traffic of the other 2 casinos.
